How a live session is built, step by step

Every live session begins with a briefing. The author shares the themes of the book, the questions they most want to be asked, and anything they would rather avoid. That document becomes the spine of the conversation.

Next comes the run sheet. A session typically opens with a short introduction to the author and the book, moves into a reading of a passage the author selects, then into the interview itself, and closes with audience questions gathered ahead of time.

The technical rehearsal is short but non-negotiable: camera framing, lighting, audio levels and a test of the shared screen used for the cover reveal. Most problems in online events are solved here rather than on the day.

Recording follows. Sessions are captured in full and lightly edited for pacing, never for substance. Authors see the edit before it is published.

Publication closes the loop. The recording goes to the Live Videos page with the session date, a short description and a link to the author's portfolio entry, where readers can find the book.
